Transitional Justice in Syria

Nur ein Bruchteil der tagtäglich in Syrien verübten Kriegsverbrechen und Menschenrechtsverletzungen findet den Weg in die Öffentlichkeit. Das Syria Justice and Accountability Center (SJAC) arbeitet daran auch alle anderen zu dokumentieren. Mohammad Al Abdallah wird über diese wichtige Arbeit berichten. Only a small fraction of war crimes and human rights violations committed in Syria day-to-day is accessible to and noticed by the public. The Syria Justice and Accountability Center (SJAC) works on collecting and documenting all of the unnoticed ongoing violations, too. This evening Mohammad Al Abdallah of SJAC will report about their work. How valuable is the information collected by the SJAC for possible trials? Which international institutions and courts can already be called upon during an ongoing conflict? What is understood to be the concept of transitional justice? And which measures and steps are necessary for societies marked by war and violence on their way back to rule of law and a peaceful normality?
